A man was killed when a train hit a car at a level crossing.
The incident near Tutbury and Hatton station in Derbyshire involved a train heading to Crewe from Derby as it crossed the A511.
The East Midlands Trains service hit a car at 1555 BST on Saturday, a British Transport Police spokesman said.
There were no serious injuries among the 54 train passengers in the accident but one woman was treated for minor neck and back injuries.
The train was travelling at about 65mph when it hit the car near the station, which is about four miles from Burton-upon-Trent.
An investigation into the accident is under way.
A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said they had sent two fire crews and an emergency tender to the scene.
Network Rail launched a £3m advertising campaign last year, warning of the dangers of level crossings.
