Pub landlady is attacked by gang

Sarah Lee

A Derby landlady is recovering after being beaten by a gang of up to 15 youths as she closed her pub.

Sarah Lee was approached by youths carrying various weapons, including a baseball bat, at the Chestnut Tree Pub at about 0120 GMT on Saturday.

She was hit in the face and suffered two black eyes and bruising to her arm. The victim was treated in hospital but has now been discharged.

The gang then ran off. Nothing was stolen in the incident.

Afterwards Ms Lee told the BBC: "Mob rule must not be allowed to prevail".

Officers said it was not clear what the motive for the attack was and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
