Man dies after Peak District hike

A Derby man has died while out walking in the Peak District.

The 50-year-old from Allestree had been hiking all day with his friend when he collapsed as he walked back to his car.

Paramedics and mountain rescue teams from Buxton and Edale were called out to Deepdale near Ashford-in-the-Water at around 1620 GMT on Tuesday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A mountain rescue spokesman said they offered their deep and sincere condolences to his family and friends.
