Caution sounded as floods recede

Flood alerts have been downgraded across Derbyshire but officials have warned more rain is on the way.

It had been feared wet weather over Saturday night would affect already waterlogged areas, but no major incidents have been reported.

A Flood Watch is still in place for the River Trent and tributaries from Newton Solney to Castle Donington.

The Met Office said severe weather was forecast but it was expected to be fast moving and less disruptive.

Rally cancelled

Despite the falling water levels, some outdoor events have still fallen foul of the weather.

Elvaston Castle Steam Rally, due to take place at the weekend has been called off because the site is waterlogged.

Chairman Cliff Rodgers said: "We start organising the next show as soon as we have finished the current one, so this is a big blow.

"I have been doing this for 29 yeas and it is the first time we have had to cancel."

Mr Rodgers said they hoped to reschedule for September.
