Police appeal after hit-and-run

A man in his 20s is seriously ill in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run in Derbyshire.

Police are looking for the driver of a Peugeot car after an accident between a car and a pedestrian late on Saturday night on Blackwall Lane in Melbourne.

The injured man, who has not been identified, was taken to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. Police are asking anyone who can help to contact them.

Police said the driver of the Peugeot stopped momentarily but then drove off.
