Man is killed in tractor accident

A 33-year-old man has died after becoming trapped by a tractor in a south Cumbrian village.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to help free the man in Scales, near Dalton-in-Furness, on Thursday evening.

A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said the man, from the Dalton area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The local coroner has been informed and an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive is set to begin.
