Armed raiders target supermarket

Three men armed with metal bars fled with cash after raiding a Tesco supermarket in Carlisle, police said.

The robbers broke into the cash office after entering the 24-hour store, in Warwick Road, through a back door on Wednesday night.

Police said a number of workers were inside the supermarket at the time of but nobody was injured. The offenders fled in a black car.

Detectives are now looking at CCTV footage from the store and nearby area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
