Man charged over firearm threats

A man has been charged with blackmail and possessing a firearm after a man forced his way into a house and threatened the occupant.

A 31-year-old man was left with minor injuries during the attack in Pipers Court, Whitehaven, in Cumbria, on Wednesday night.

Sean McDonald, 36, of Foundry Road, Parton, is due to appear before West Allerdale magistrates on Saturday.

Police said firearm offences in Cumbria were very rare.
