Man badly hurt in bus collision

A 49-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a bus in County Durham.

Police said the man, from Lanchester, was crossing an unlit road on the outskirts of Langley Park when he was struck by the bus on Tuesday evening.

He was taken to Durham's University Hospital, where he is being treated in intensive care.

A police spokesman said the driver and lone passenger on the Go North East bus were uninjured in the incident.
