Tributes paid to death crash two

Scene of the M6 crash A family has been left "heartbroken" after two women were killed in a crash on the M6 in Cumbria.

Jacqueline Trevorrow, 41, and her mother-in-law Irene Trevorrow, 63, - both of Crosby in Merseyside - died in the accident on Tuesday evening.

Irene's 36-year-old daughter, of Tebay, Cumbria, is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The Mitsubishi people carrier, carrying five other family members, hit a central reservation, near Kendal.

The crash, which happened opposite the Killington Lake Services between Sedbergh and Kirby Lonsdale, closed both carriageways of the motorway.

Jacqueline's husband and her 10-year-old son, together with Irene's husband, were taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. All three are in a stable condition.

In a statement, a family spokesperson said: "Our entire family and friends are devastated at losing Irene and Jackie.

"Our hearts are broken and the pain we feel is hard to put into words.

"Everyone involved in the accident is being comforted by a close and loving family, who Irene and Jackie were at the heart of.

"Both beautiful ladies were everybody's friend."

Jacqueline's 11-year-old daughter was uninjured in the crash.

Both women raised funds for charities like the Roy Castle Foundation.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
