Motorist dies in tree collision

A motorist has died after his car collided with a tree in South Cumbria.

The 68-year-old's Rover left the A5087 Coast Road at Bardsea, near Ulverston, and hit the tree.

The man, who is from the Ulverston area, died at the scene. An investigation into the crash, which involved no other cars, has begun.

Cumbria Police closed the road for over three hours following the collision on Saturday morning. Any witnesses should contact the force.
