Lidl supermarket plan recommended

Councillors have been recommended to approve an application for a new Lidl supermarket in Leamington Spa.

The plans for the shop, on the site of the former Hurran's garden centre in Myton Road, received 50 objections.

They included ones from The Warwick Society, Warwick Town Council and Lidl's German supermarket rival Aldi, which has a supermarket in Atherstone.

Lidl's first application was turned down by Warwick District Council in February.

Planners were due to discuss the new application on Tuesday evening.
