Council tackles post office plans

Proposals to fight plans to close four post offices in Warwickshire are being drawn up by councillors.

With the help of the county council, members in Nuneaton and Bedworth hope to find ways of running the businesses as independent concerns.

At a full meeting of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council the authority will examine ways of keeping the facilities open.

The Post Office said closing any branch was always a "very difficult decision".

Fifty-one branches are proposed for closure across Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire.

The borough council's leader, Marcus Jones, said: "I can't talk for Warwickshire County Council. They have to look at their budgets."
