Stars attend Shakespeare open day

Dame Judi Dench Stars such as Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Juliet Stevenson and Patrick Stewart have attended an open day held by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The event is part of the celebrations of the 443rd anniversary of the Bard's birth in Stratford-upon-Avon.

It was the last opportunity for people to visit the Royal Shakespeare Theatre before it is redeveloped.

Celebrations of Shakespeare's birthday began on Friday. He is believed to have been born on 23 April, 1564.

Among the attractions at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre were a concert, a Shakespeare quiz, a theatre discovery zone and backstage and star tours.
