A 53-year-old man who died after being hit by a train at Hayle railway station in Cornwall has been named.
Wolfgang Armstrong was believed to be from the Truro area, British Transport Police said. He died after an incident at about 1400 GMT on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said he climbed onto the track to talk to some teenage girls on the other platform and had been unable to climb back up in time.
A police investigation is continuing into his death.
The death is being treated as an accident.
Mainline train services between London and Penzance were disrupted while an on-site investigation was carried out.
