Single will help hospice appeal

Shane Solomon and Laurence Reed

Hundreds of people turned out for the launch of a Christmas single on Tuesday to raise money for a new children's hospice in Cornwall.

BBC Radio Cornwall's Laurence Reed and Cornish entertainer Shane Solomon recorded a version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight for the Precious Lives appeal.

The pair appeared at Lemon Quay in Truro for their first live performance.

More than £220,000 has been raised by BBC Radio Cornwall listeners to build a hospice in St Austell.
