Man quizzed over pedestrian death

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian died when he was hit by a car on the A30 in Cornwall.

Vivian Eley, 68, from Marazanvose, was struck on the A30 westbound near Zelah at about 1945 BST on Tuesday night.

Mr Eley was declared dead at the scene. A 48-year-old man from Camborne was arrested by officers on Thursday morning.

He has been released on police bail until 12 March 2009.
