Driver dies after car leaves road

A driver from Plymouth died after his car left the road and careered down an embankment in Cornwall.

The accident happened at about 0700 BST on the westbound carriageway of the A38 near Menheniot.

The driver, who was seriously injured, died later in hospital. No-one else was hurt in the crash.

Lorries were being diverted at Carkeel Roundabout, while cars were redirected at Treruelfoot. Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash.
