Man faces questions over shooting

Amanda and Adam Hustler

Police have been waiting at a hospital to interview an arrested man after a shooting in which a man died and his wife was seriously injured.

Jonathan Cock suffered self-inflicted facial wounds after the incident at a house in Porth Kea, near Truro.

Businessman Adam Hustler, 41, was killed and his wife, Amanda, 39, was shot twice, but is stable in hospital.

The arrested 23-year-old man is understood to be the former boyfriend of a daughter of Mr and Mrs Hustler.

He was arrested by police at an address in Penzance and later taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and put under under police guard.

A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the property Mr Cock was arrested at, but police gave no details of the weapon.

Mr Hustler ran a drain clearance firm called Clear Flow, based at Truro.

Police were called to Porth Kea House in Porth Kea, near Truro, just before 2200 BST on Saturday following a 999 call.

Mr Hustler died in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, of gunshot injuries. Mrs Hustler was shot twice in the incident and was taken to the same hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital.

House Mr Hustler's family said in a statement that they were "very shocked by these terrible and very unexpected events".

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Amanda and her two daughters at this most difficult time," they said.

The Hustlers are Jehovah's Witnesses. Tim Mears, from the church, said: "Adam Hustler was a loving husband and father.

"He was a generous and caring person who thought the world of his wife and daughters."

Neighbour Marie Laity told the BBC: "We have always found them very pleasant. It is a major shock."

Another neighbour, Angela Bushell, said she was "absolutely shocked" at what had happened.
