Family tribute to murder victim

Jody Crang: Pic Devon and Cornwall Police

The family of a murder victim has paid tribute to him and said he was a "free spirit".

Jody Crang, 28, was found with serious head injuries on Par Beach, near St Austell, on Saturday evening. He died later in hospital.

Dean Morton Ashley Granger-Allen, 20, appeared before magistrates on Tuesday and was remanded in custody pending a crown court hearing in October.

A 16-year-old girl has been questioned by police and released on bail.

Mr Crang's family said in a statement: "Jody was a happy go lucky man who was kind, funny and wouldn't harm anyone.

"He had a sunny personality and was a free spirit which has now tragically passed on. We miss him terribly."
