Driver hurt in morning collision

A woman has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident in Cornwall.

The woman driver and her passenger, who was also injured, were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro following the accident in Newquay.

It happened just before 0500 BST and Mitchell Avenue, Marcus Hill and Seymour Avenue were closed to traffic while police investigated.

The roads were closed for several hours before being reopened.
