Work has started on the quay in St Agnes as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment on the Isles of Scilly.
Six quays are being renovated in a £4m scheme funded through the government and the Duchy of Cornwall.
In August workmen completed the first stage of work on the nearby island of Bryher at Church Quay.
Work continues there on resurfacing Anneka's Quay on the Bar which was originally built as part of the BBC's Challenge Anneka programme in 1991.
It has been 50 years since any major work was done on the off-islands quays.
An increase in the number of tourists and freight to the off-islands mean locals demand wider and more practical facilities.
Tresco is carrying out its own repairs.
Work is expected to continue on St Martins and carry on until the New Year.
