Man leaves hospital after capsize

The woman, her husband and their friend, who is in his 80s and owned the boat, were plucked from the sea by a local boat but the woman had died.

The man in his 80s, who is believed to be local, is expected to be released from hospital in Truro on Tuesday.

Coastguards said it appeared none of them was wearing lifejackets.

Both men have made statements about the incident to detectives.

'Recovered quickly'

Ian Guy, watch officer at Falmouth Coastguard, said: "The winds had been reasonably light. There weren't strong weather warnings in force."

"One of the local boats saw the small motor boat had capsized and the three people were in the water between St Agnes and St Mary's islands.

"They alerted us and went to assist along with other local boats."

The RNLI lifeboat was also sent out to help with the rescue as well as the Royal Navy helicopter from Culdrose, he said.

"All three people were recovered from the water very quickly. Sadly one of them was deceased."

He said the couple were believed to be visiting their friend on holiday.
