Gas and diesel fuel in barn fire

About 40 firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at a barn in north Devon on Friday afternoon.

Ten fire appliances from Devon Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire on a farm near Ashreigney, Chulmleigh.

The fire service said about 1,500 litres (330 gallons) of white diesel fuel was believed to be on the site, plus propane and acetylene cylinders.

People living within 200m of the fire were evacuated from their homes and roads were closed in the area.
