Organic veg box scheme expanding

Guy Watson of Riverford Organic Farm Devon-based Riverford farm is franchising its organic veg box scheme to other parts of the country.

The family-run business has seen the number of vegetable boxes it supplies double this year.

Now the firm, which has just expanded from Cornwall to London, is using a co-operative of farmers to help supply more customers.

Riverford founder Guy Watson says it may seem a simple concept, but getting the quality right is crucial.

He said: "Rather than Riverford just getting bigger and bigger, with the associated danger of losing sight of the values which have guided our development so far, we have decided to work with other groups of farmers in different areas of the country."
