Deaths on roads down by one third

The number of deaths on roads in the Cambridgeshire area has fallen by 30% in the past year compared to 2007.

Road deaths in 2008 were down to 60 from 86 the previous year.

The Cambridgeshire force investigated 52 fatal collisions during 2008 and will use its findings to target any particular offences or problem areas.

Officers also spent the year conducting high-profile enforcement campaigns in an attempt to reduce deaths and collisions, the force said.
