Prisoner death accused remanded

A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after the death of an inmate at Peterborough Prison.

Brian Haynes, 33, from the Huntingdon area, was found in his cell by police called to the jail on 11 September. He was declared dead at the scene.

Shane Farrington, 25, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court and was remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday.

Six men arrested in connection with the death are on bail until 27 January.

A police spokesman said all those arrested in connection with the incident were inmates at Peterborough Prison.
