Wedding cancelled after bomb find

A wedding ceremony due to take place at a hotel in Cambridgeshire had to be cancelled after explosives were found.

Orton Hall Hotel in Orton Longueville, Peterborough, was evacuated after workmen digging at the site found bottles containing live munitions.

About 50 wedding guests and hotel staff were taken to a nearby primary school at lunchtime.

A specialist explosive unit is currently at the scene dealing with the World War II munitions, police said.

Police were alerted to the incident by the fire service at about 0930 BST.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said: "The hotel and adjacent pub have been closed to public access as a precaution.

"A specialist explosives unit is on its way to the scene."
