A road in Cambridgeshire judged unsafe when badgers dug setts and tunnels underneath it has reopened.
The animals built tunnels under the High Street in Croydon near Melbourn making the road virtually unusable and forcing engineers to close it in April.
They feared the amount of undermining by tunnels could make the road cave in.
Dozens of badgers have been resited and rehomed with the help of English Nature and the old sett was dug out to reveal tunnels of half a metre in diameter.
About 230 tonnes of concrete had to be used to fill the void and a temporary surface was laid to allow the road to be reopened.
Contractors will return later to lay a permanent road surface.
