Fatal shooting club now a church

A Bristol nightclub where a teenager was shot dead in 2006 has been turned into a church.

Dean Myles, 19, from London, was shot during a Jamaican-themed dance night at Club UK in Stokes Croft. No-one has been convicted of his murder.

The Nigerian-based Pentecostal Holiness Ministry has opened the building as the Redeemed Christian Church of God led by Pastor Kasali Fatai.

The first service at the newly opened church was held on Sunday.

The building still retains some of its nightclub features with a cloakroom, ticket booth and strip lighting, but the main hall has been decorated with green drapes, flowers, and balloons, with prayers and hymns projected onto the walls.

A jury at Bristol Crown Court cleared Rico Walker, 26, of no fixed address, of Mr Myles's murder.

Jurors failed to reach a verdict on murder charges relating to Ashley Pritchard, 18, of no fixed address, Jamie Veira, 20, and Matthew Radnedge, 20, both from the Easton area of Bristol, and the case was later dropped.
