CCTV checked after custody death

CCTV footage of a police station in Bath is to be reviewed following a man's death in custody last month.

Mark Read, 39, from Frome, died at Bath Central police station on 23 December after his arrest for being drunk and incapable in Wells Road at 1900 GMT.

An officer found him unresponsive in his cell at about 2030 GMT and at 2130 GMT he was pronounced dead in hospital.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is also looking at CCTV footage from the city's cameras.

Investigators hope they may be able to build a complete picture of the incident if any of Mr Read's movements were recorded on CCTV in the two hours before his arrest.

The post mortem examination has taken place but results of forensic tests on his body have not yet been announced.

The funeral of Mr Read was held on 13 January.
