Cyclist beaten and robbed on path

A cyclist needed hospital treatment after being beaten and robbed on a cycle path in South Gloucestershire.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday on a track between Warmley and Hanham.

The victim was approached by six youths on bikes who punched him and hit him with a baseball bat, before making off with a mobile phone and jewellery.

Police patrols were stepped up on the Bristol to Bath cycle path last month after a spate of attacks on riders.

One of the group was described as white, aged 15 to 16, about 6ft tall, of skinny build, with blond hair.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the attack, between 0110 and 0130 BST on Sunday 29 June.
