Peter McCann, 27, and Michael Connors, 47, both appeared before Bristol magistrates at the weekend charged with carrying out a burglary in Portishead.
They were arrested last Thursday after a police helicopter tracked a car being driven the wrong way along the M49.
Neither man entered a plea. Mr Connors was also charged with four motoring offences.
These include driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop when directed by police and driving without insurance.
Both were remanded in custody and will next appear via videolink on 29 February, when the case will be committed to the crown court.
