Reductions in speed limit and weight restrictions have made several lanes in rural parts of South Gloucestershire quieter and safer.
Under the council's quiet lanes scheme several back roads in Henfield, Coalpit Heath and Ram Hill now have 30mph speed limits and a 7.5 tonne restriction.
A council spokeswoman said some residents had been concerned about the speed of traffic in the countryside.
"The measures increase safety but don't spoil the rural character," she said.
Signposts displaying the speed limit have been made from locally-sourced materials to enhance the rural character of the area and reflect the local heritage.
