Woman withdraws attack allegation

An allegation of serious sexual assault by a 21-year-old woman in South Gloucestershire has been withdrawn.

Police began an investigation when the woman claimed she had been attacked in Newton Road, Cadbury Heath, in the early hours of last Sunday.

She has now admitted the assault did not happen.

Det Insp Rob Barker said residents who were worried about an attacker being on the loose could now be reassured the area was safe.
