Race off after dearth of entries

Bristol University's annual half marathon and 5k challenge has been called off after a lack of entries.

The event was due to take place this Sunday at Coombe Dingle sports centre.

Tom Noble, Athletic Union chairman, said he was disappointed to have to postpone the race, but it would have been running at a loss.

"We waited until after the deadline, but only received a fraction of the entries we needed to make it financially viable," he said.

"I would like to apologise to all those who did enter and have been training hard for the event. We hope to rearrange it for some time this academic year."
