Moor discovery was dead sheep

Police examine remains on Saddleworth Moor

Remains found on Saddleworth Moor near the border of West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester were those of a sheep, police have confirmed.

West Yorkshire Police were called out on Tuesday afternoon to reports of remains being found near Huddersfield.

It was initially thought the remains may have been those of a human and forensic examinations were carried out.

However, police said later: "We can now confirm that the remains are that of a sheep and the scene is now closed."
