Man hit over head with metal bar

A man sustained a large cut to his head when he was hit with a metal bar in Berkshire, police have said.

The 19-year-old became involved in an altercation with several other men in the area of Willow Close and Old Newton Road, in Newbury.

The victim had to spend two days in the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Police appealed for witnesses to the attack which happened between 2300 BST and midnight on Monday.
