Bus engulfed in fire on main road

A double decker bus became engulfed in flames after catching fire on a major route in the south of England.

Police were called to the northbound A34, just before Chilton on the Berkshire-Oxfordshire border, on Saturday morning.

There were no passengers on the bus and the driver was not injured.

The road was closed for several hours, causing traffic delays, while the bus was recovered. Diversions were put in place but one lane has since reopened.

Officers are investigating the cause of the fire.
