Power cut hits 1,600 properties

About 1,600 homes and offices in Berkshire were left without electricity due to a power cut.

The breakdown, which affected properties in Windsor and Old Windsor, began at 1500 BST on Thursday.

Scottish and Southern Energy said a fault in the transformer - which distributes the electricity to homes - had caused the problem.

Power was restored at about 2300 BST and the supplier apologised for the inconvenience.
