Man dies after car park collision

Sonning Golf Club car park

A 66-year-old man died after being struck by a car as he made his way to a function at a Berkshire golf club.

The man, from Abingdon, was attending the event at about midday on Saturday when he was knocked down by a Mercedes in the car park of Sonning Golf Club.

He was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital where he later died.

The victim was not a club member, but it is thought he had been attending a wedding at the venue, in Duffield Road, when the incident happened.

Pc Melonie Powell, said: "I would like to hear from anyone that may have been in the area at the time who witnessed this collision."
