A man has pleaded for help to find the thief who stole his wife's car as she was scraping ice from the windscreen and then ran her over.
Caroline Johnson, 46, is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering multiple injuries in the incident in Humber Way, Langley, Slough, Berkshire.
Police think she was dragged under the car for up to 20m (65ft). The car was recovered nearby in Buckinghamshire.
Ms Johnson's husband, Mark Collins, said the family was "devastated".
"What happened yesterday was completely unnecessary, and I urge anyone who can help the police catch whoever did this to my wife to come forward," he said.
"In over 14 years of road traffic collisions, I have never seen anyone with as many injuries as this woman has sustained"
"This whole incident has left us devastated and will continue to do so for months to come."
Ms Johnson's car, a champagne-coloured Citroen Picasso, was found abandoned in Sycamore Walk, George Green, Buckinghamshire.
Police are examining the vehicle for forensic evidence.
Pc Clive Benson, of Thames Valley Police, said: "In over 14 years of road traffic collisions, I have never seen anyone with as many injuries as this woman has sustained.
"The family are struggling to deal with what has happened and they are naturally devastated. It's an incident no one expected to happen.
"Sometimes in these type of incidents, when someone is scraping ice off their car, they leave the engine running and pop inside for a cup of tea and then the vehicle is stolen." Police said the attacker knew the back roads and believe he is local.
More than 1,000 motorists were stopped and spoken to by officers near the scene of the incident on Wednesday morning.
The attacker is described as white, in his 30s with dark brown hair.
