Power is restored to 1,700 homes

Power has been restored to more than 1,700 homes in Berkshire after a fault with the network.

Properties across Reading and Caversham had been affected since about 0400 GMT on Friday.

A spokesman for Southern Electric said there had been a fault in the main network which supplies the area.

He apologised to residents for the problem but said engineers had worked to fix the fault and power had been restored just after 0700 GMT.
