Man dies after motorway pile-up

A man has been killed in a crash involving four vehicles on a stretch of motorway in Berkshire.

Two cars and two motorcycles were involved in the collision at junction five of the M4, near Slough, during the morning rush hour.

The eastbound carriageway was closed for several hours and traffic had to be diverted off the motorway.

A second collision on the M4 near Maidenhead left the driver of a Volkswagen with serious injuries.

He was airlifted to hospital in Oxford following the crash on the westbound carriageway between junction eight/nine and junction 10 at 0930 BST.

The circumstances of the second collision are currently being investigated, police said.

Officers are keen to trace the driver of a brown van.
