Records set in town half marathon
Two new records have been set at the 2008 Reading Half Marathon.
Both the men's winner and women's winner beat all previous times recorded at the Berkshire race, which is in its 26th year.
Patrick Makau, from Kenya, crossed the line in 61 minutes and 19 seconds while Liz Yelling was the women's winner in 69 minutes and 35 seconds.
More than 10,000 runners took part in the 13.1 mile (21km) run on Sunday, raising more than £1m for charity.
Participants started at Green Park at about 1000 GMT, ran through Whitley, along Shinfield Road, past the Oracle through the town centre, onto the Bath Road before finishing at Reading Football Club's Madejski Stadium.
