Footballer on breath test charges

Dave Kitson Reading footballer Dave Kitson has been charged with failing to provide a breath sample after being stopped in his car by police late at night.

The 27-year-old forward was stopped by officers near his home in the village of Shinfield, near Reading, Berkshire, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Mr Kitson is due to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court on 18 January.

He has been charged with failing to provide a breath sample and failing to co-operate in providing a sample.

A Reading Football Club spokesman said: "We can confirm that a player has been arrested in connection with a drink-driving allegation and is due to appear in court.

"This is a police matter and we cannot make any further comment."
