Two hurt in New Year's Day fracas

A teenager suffered head injuries and another man was assaulted during a series of disturbances in a Berkshire town on New Year's Day morning.

Police said they received several calls from members of the public regarding public disorder in the Wentworth Avenue area in Britwell, Slough.

A man, 18, was taken to Wexham Park Hospital with head injuries on 1 January and discharged the next day.

A man, 20, required hospital treatment after being attacked in the same area.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said a 20-year-old man attended Slough police station, where he was arrested on suspicion of assault.

He was released on bail until 29 January.

Det Con Martin Davies, from Slough CID, said: "Several people have come forward to assist police with this investigation.

"However, there were many others who may have witnessed the incidents and I am appealing for them to contact the police as soon as possible."
