'Crack house' shut by court order

Police have closed down a suspected crack house in a Berkshire town for the first time using a court order.

Officers attended Bracknell magistrates' court to obtain the order under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act to shut the house in the Bullbrook area.

The property will now remain boarded up for three months and anyone caught inside, or attempting to get in, will be arrested, Thames Valley Police said.

They said if necessary the order could be extended for another three months.

The action was taken after neighbours complained about the disturbance caused by visitors to the flat during the day and night, and a rise in local crime was seen.

Insp Simon Bowden said: "I want people in our communities to know that we are listening to their concerns and are working with our partners to put a stop to drug-related crime and disorder."
