Man convicted over drugs network

A man has been found guilty of running a drug dealing network which is thought to have netted him up up to £500,000.

Pardeep Bains, 32, of Chantry Avenue, Kempston, Bedfordshire, was convicted at Luton Crown Court of conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine.

Bains, who was found guilty of dealing drugs between 1 January 2003 and 1 November 2007, was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.

He was cleared of a charge of trying to disguise criminal property.

The jury has not yet reached verdicts on charges faced by his former girlfriend, Rachel Taylor.

Miss Taylor, 29, of Farrer Street, Kempston, a trained barrister and practising solicitor, was in a relationship with Bains for four years.

She has pleaded not guilty to converting criminal property and disguising criminal property.

The prosecution alleged Bains was passing some of his income made from drugs through her bank account.

The jury will continue deliberations on Miss Taylor's case on Monday.
