Man who filmed car rape is jailed

Graeme Cox

A man who filmed himself as he raped a 12-year-old girl in the back of his car has been jailed for at least 14 years.

Graeme Cox, 39, of Barton Way, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, appeared at St Albans Crown Court.

He earlier admitted 32 offences involving grooming of two schoolgirls, sexual assault, rape and making and distributing indecent images.

Judge Michael Baker QC gave Cox an extended prison sentence of 19 years, of which he must serve 14 years.

Judge Baker said it was an aggravating feature that Cox had been prepared to pass on the video over the internet and he said Cox would remain on licence until he is 60.

He said: "I see you sunk deep in a mire of compulsive sexual perversion."

Cox asked for two further offences involving a third girl to be taken into consideration.

Police tip-off

The court heard how Cox travelled across the country to meet girls he had groomed after meeting them via the internet.

Police were tipped off about his activities and seized his computer.

They were able to trace two girls who had been contacted by him - a 15-year-old from Liverpool and a 12-year-old from Derby.

The court heard one girl agreed to meet him and got into his car.

Cox pleaded guilty to three offences of rape, two of sexual activity with a child under 13, two charges of sexual activity with a child and one charge of meeting a child following sexual grooming.

He also admitted three charges of distributing indecent photos of a child, 17 of making indecent photos of a child and four charges of possessing indecent photos of a child.
